In 2025, we launched a first-of-its-kind fintech platform to digitize water utility payments in Nigeria. The platform supports flat-rate, prepaid, and postpaid users via app, web, and USSD—making payments inclusive, transparent, and scalable. Currently under second-stage review for a pilot with the Ogun State Water Corporation.

Our Research Interest

We are deeply engaged in research and innovation focused on helping water utilities reduce Non-Revenue Water (NRW). Our work explores the deployment of sensors, digital data gathering tools, and advanced data analytics to support utility decision-making, detect losses, and improve operational performance. We aim to combine fintech and smart infrastructure to drive sustainable impact in water service delivery.

Our Track Record

In collaboration with the Bauchi State Water and Sewerage Corporation (BSWSC), we executed a World Bank-funded customer enumeration and GIS mapping project under the Third National Urban Water Sector Reform Project (NUWSRP3). The assignment involved end-to-end digital enumeration, spatial data capture, and fintech integration to establish a robust customer database and support a transition to digital billing.

Recognition

We received a ‘Commended Award’ from the Vice-President for Social Responsibility at the University of Manchester for our consistent partnership in organizing impactful World Water Day events.
